The 2017 arrival of the Fighting Roosters franchise marks a welcome return of France to the World Series of Boxing competition. It was former Olympic Champion Brahim Asloum’s Paris United that won the inaugural WSB Season back in 2011, before the format changed to country rather than city-based. After a superb Olympic campaign during Rio 2016, the French boxing team will return for the first time since their title-winning debut full of confidence and determined to reach the finals in Season VII.
French boxing returned from Rio 2016 with a record six Olympic medals, including two golds. Among those representing the Roosters in Season VII will be Lightweight silver medallist Sofiane Oumiha, Welterweight bronze medallist Souleymane Cissokho and fellow Rio 2016 competitors Elie Konki (52kg), Hassan Amzile (64kg) and Paul Omba-Biongolo (91kg), while Spanish Light Flyweight and Rio 2016 Quarter-Finalist Samuel Carmona was among the team’s Draft Picks.
