The Cuba Domadores’ strength in depth has been arguably its biggest weapon over the four seasons that the franchise has been involved in WSB. Featuring an array of World Championship winners, Pan-American Champions and four Olympic gold-medallists, at every weight class there is another young talent pushing for a place in the side. Bursting onto the WSB scene in Season IV, the Domadores have made it to four consecutive finals, winning two and amassing an enviable 85% win record. That includes an incredible 93% win percentage in Season VI, during which the team dropped just one bout at home and only three on the road.
Team captain Julio Cesar La Cruz leads by example with a virtuoso style that has seen him register an 22-3 record on route to winning two WSB titles to go with his four World Championship golds and Rio 2016 Olympic title. Indeed, all ten of the Domadores’ Olympians reached at least the last eight in Rio, with Robeisy Ramirez (56kg) and Arlen Lopez (75kg) joining La Cruz on top of the podium, while Johanys Argilagos (49kg), Lazaro Alvarez (60kg) and Erislandy Savon (91kg) won Olympic bronze.
