Skylab Christmas Do 2013: Days of Thunder

Skylab is hiring!

As usual when Christmas rolls about Skylab likes to go top speed. On December 17 we put the pedal to the floor and steered the team to the finish line at Daytona Motorsports in Manchester, but before that we had a pit stop with Secret Santa at the office.

Each of us brought in our winning presents earlier that morning though a few squeezed in just in time. By the time we all collected mid-morning there was a pile of presents that overflowed from the coffee table.

We had a few laughs. Then handed out presents and everyone set their mind to the task at hand.

Needless to say it was chaotic getting everyone from the office to the race track but everyone got there in one piece and without any speeding tickets so we were off to a good start.

Around 20 to 25 of us gathered together in the briefing room and were read the rules of the road (which some of us followed better than others!)

After a short while we were on the track zipping about at top speed.

Earlier this year we had the pleasure of going to GoApe where we were able to ride Segways; it should go without saying that the go-karts at Daytona are significantly faster. Fortunately for us there were also fewer collisions at Daytona.

After what seemed like countless laps, a few yellow flags, a couple red flags and probably a black flag, we were able to see just who ruled the road. While there was much debate as to the results we’ll stick with what the photos show.

Needless to say this one will go down in the record books, at least, until next year.
