Microsoft Kinect On Steroids: Leap Motion And The Future Of Digital Interaction

As a digital agency it’s fair to say we’re tech savvy. We love new technology and we are passionate about digital. We love what we do and today we’re hoping that what you see will make you love it too.

Leap Motion is a company that developed a product called The Leap. The Leap is a small device that connects to your computer, replacing your mouse, and allows you to interact with your computer using only your hands.

We’re not talking about a new Nintendo Wii or Microsoft Kinect; we’re talking about a revolution. The video below will help to answer some initial questions and get you excited.

So what can we expect with this new technology?

  • “Leap technology is 200 times more accurate than anything else on the market”
  • The Leap creates a 3-d interaction space around your computer
  • You can interact using your hand, your arm, a pencil or any other handheld item
  • You can “network more than one Leap device, to create even larger interaction areas”
  • The Leap uses a “touch-free motion sensing and motion control software”
  • The Leap will retail for $69.99

When we first came across the videos and website it was hard to believe that this mystery was solved but it does appear that the people at Leap Motion have brought us the “Minority Report’s” (the movie with Tom Cruise) 3-D computer system. We want one now.

Minority Report is the best example of future digital interaction. At $69.99 this could easily be made a must-have for every home with a computer throughout the world. It opens up a world of possibilities. Be excited. Be very excited.
